This years MVT national show at Kemble unfortunately fell amoungst some other dates in most reenactment calendars.
There were only a few actual groups in attendance, but this relatively quiet show allowed us to do some necessary planning for next years shows and we also helped Osprey books with some shots to help with future military uniform literature.
We re enacted a bunker scenario (at night!) very dark!! and a french parachute landing (pictures to follow soon)
The wind was a little too strong for the parachute landing and we lost one member across the airfield attached to the end of the chute! We rapidly learnt that you need collapse the canopy by running faster than the chute (if you are on your feet) or you pull down the top leading edge of the parachute to collapse the envelope.
All good fun - no one was hurt - but some real 'fear' pictures were taken!
To the right you can see the use of the FM - we were using thunderplashes to simulate the gun fire. One member unfortunately lost his hearing for a short while!
All kit is period, authentic including the 1950's parachute - and the results are very close to the real thing!
