After a tip off from a contact in France, we were able to visit a private military collection, currently being dissolved.
The entire collection was for disposal, but of particular interest for our reenactment group were the post war french military vehicles.
Pictured is a factory fresh ACMAT. Outside was a very rare and complete Panhard armoured personnel carrier (pictures to right show the cramped inside). The driving position must have been very hot as it was directly above the engine!
There were also display engines still on stands and brand new! (sorry these were not for sale!) - but a good reference picture for anyone into rare french engines.. anyone that specific out there?
There was also to be spied a very rare experimental AML 60 with a weird looking gun in the mantle - I will research and let you know soon what it probably is..
Lastly there was a VW wate- going staff car - but its rarity and value was very much known - any one fancy re mortgaging their house?
The up shot was we were able to secure lots of spares for the FARG Panhard rebuild and even one more complete vehicle. This is being offered for sale - please see the sales pages!
I have also now a contact to source all the spares we need.. and ones we don't....anyone for a cannon out of a german ww2 fighter plane - still in the box?
Very interesting to say the least...
